Our Team
John Joseph Lin was born and raised in suburban Detroit before graduating from NYU’s Stern School of Business. He spent over a decade in New York City working in fashion at labels including Bottega Veneta and for cultural magazines Big and Black Book. Eventually, he fell in love with the energy of Miami and relocated to work with Luminaire, the leader in modern design.
John joined Luminaire as Director of Marketing, organizing major events including Art Basel’s “Puppy Love” exhibition with Christie’s and the opening of Luminaire Lab. For years he worked closely with the top designers in the world, including Arne Quinze, the Campana Brothers, and Marcel Wanders, launching companies such as Edra, Established & Sons and Swarovski Crystal Palace in the U.S.
He then moved to Paris to serve as worldwide head of communications for Corto Moltedo, the namesake brand from the founders of Bottega Veneta. John oversaw four PR agencies in England, France, Italy and Japan and organized events and brand initiatives all over the world, from Abu Dhabi to Hong Kong and Rio de Janeiro. He also managed Corto Moltedo’s biannual Prêt-à-Porter presentations during Paris Fashion Week.
When it came time to launch his own company, John moved back to sunny Miami. Lin Projects found instant success with its concentration in marketing, branding, strategy and event production. John was the Miami curator for Target’s Stylescape campaign with Phillip Lim, head of communications for the Webster, produced the #MiamiNeedsUber marketing campaign, and launched Kanon Vodka in the local market. He currently works with clients including The Bass Museum, Conde Nast, Design Miami, Fendi, Perrier-Jouët, Prada, and Vanity Fair Magazine amongst others. He previously oversaw year-round cultural programming for The Standard Hotel and Spa and served as cultural ambassador for Shinola Detroit. In addition to having been style editor for Ocean Drive and a contributing editor for Cultured Magazine, he also blogs at iamjohnnyboy.com.
John is a founding member of the capital campaign group at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), Core Creative, and the Influencer Circle at The National YoungArts Foundation, and serves on the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) NEXT Committee and the Advisory Council for South Florida CARES and ProjectArt. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Locust Projects, a multi disciplinary not for profit exhibition space, and the Miami Rail, an editorially independent expansion of the Brooklyn Rail providing critical coverage of art and culture, produced both in print and online four times a year.
